About the Role  

 

The HR Team at Canon is responsible for every aspect of the HR portfolio within this fast-paced and diverse business. Supporting our Canon Business Services division, we're looking for a self-starting Business Partner to fulfil this integral role in the business. Reporting to a leader based in Australia, you’ll be the local expert with boots on the ground providing an opportunity to be autonomous and own relationships and outcomes. You’ll quickly develop effective working relationships which you’ll leverage to influence and challenge individual contributors and leaders in a respectful way and support the delivery of end to end HR initiatives to realise business area objectives. 

  

The scope of the role includes: 

 

  • Stakeholder Management 

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the business, its strategies, business priorities, issues and challenges in order to strategically partner and jointly meet objectives 

  • Build and maintain effective professional relationships with HR team members and client group stakeholders 

  • Supported by an Advisory team, be the first point of contact for HR queries from client groups 

  • Partner with the Recruitment team to ensure timely and quality recruits into client groups 

  • Partner with the Learning and Development team to implement initiatives to meet the needs of client groups 

  • Partner with the HR Operations team to ensure timely management of people processes 

  • Employee Relations 

  • Coach and guide people leaders through employee relations matters, ensuring practical and fair solutions 

  • Influence, advise and educate leaders in people and performance related issues and coach them to deliver key messages to their team members 

  • Work closely with leaders and individual contributors to improve work relationships, build engagement, and increase productivity and retention 

  • Identify and escalate industry trends, best practice and/or legislative changes to relevant business stakeholders for both medium and long-term planning 

  • Provide informed and sound HR advice to stakeholders 

  • HR Operations 

  • Support with the execution of HR operational objectives, including, but not limited to Policies, Processes, Procedures, Compliance, Leave Management, Performance Management, Remuneration 

  

 

About you 

 

This is the ideal opportunity for someone who is keen to utilise their HR skills and truly partner with the business.  To be successful in this role, you must be willing to be hands on and agile, be able to manage multiple projects and issues at once and appreciate the day to day operational and functional elements of the role. Experience gained in a blue collar, retail or business process outsourcing environment would be highly regarded, but more important is your sound judgement and ability to get to the heart of issues in a professional and pragmatic way. 

 

Ideally with 2 or more years in a similar role or with similar responsibility you will be able to clearly demonstrate your experience as an employment relations expert and partner with senior leaders to successful outcomes.  You may be required to travel to other locations within New Zealand from time to time to build stronger relationships and to better understand our business and customers.
