About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Information Technology team as a Senior Desktop Support Engineer based on our NZ Head Office.  This role is responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software problems in person and remotely, resolving and documenting solutions.  You’ll monitors backups and maintenance logs, and answer calls and tickets to support end users in the Corporate environment across the country.


Scope of the role includes:

  • Troubleshooting hardware and software problems in person and remotely
  • Answering calls and resolving tickets to support end users with applications, hardware and networking
  • Creating end user documentation and knowledge base articles
  • Desktop support and more complex incident resolution
  • Sharing in team responsibility for mobile phone support for Canon NZ\AU user base
  • Asset management activities including the coordination of client desktop equipment and other hardware stocks
  • Continually drive improvements in efficiency, productivity, and quality of service delivery
  • Ensuring relevant service changes are released smoothly into support in line with business agility and specific business requirements
  • Exposure to project activity involving the wider IT team


About you

You are someone who is passionate about technology, and you know how to provide excellent customer service to a wide variety of stakeholders. You have experience in Active Directory and Exchange with a strong understanding of physical networking and server equipment.  You possess several years’ experience in an IT service environment coupled with great interpersonal and communication skills. You have great problem-solving skills and the mindset required to continually drive improvements in efficiency, productivity and quality of service delivery. Your certifications in Microsoft Desktop operating systems (MCITP) would be highly desirable as would you experience with Service NOW.


Key Skills required include:

  • Skills and experience with Active directory and Exchange
  • Understanding of physical networking and server equipment
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in an IT service environment (4 years +)
  • Certifications in Microsoft Desktop operating systems (MCITP, etc.) will be viewed favourably
  • Proven ability to show initiative in work activities and complete tasks in a meticulous manner
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience in IT desktop support role will be highly advantageous
  • Experience supporting Desktop hardware and software applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
