About the Role
Join our Canon Business Services Finance team as an experienced and motivated Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract, based at our Macquarie Park office. As part of our supportive team, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate financial insights and analysis that support strategic decision-making across Canon Business Services ANZ. You’ll also help ensure strong financial governance through effective controls across accounting, treasury, and taxation functions.
You’ll take ownership of key accounting processes, ensuring the integrity of financial data and driving value through effective reporting. Collaboration is central to this role—you’ll work closely with both offshore and onshore finance teams, as well as business units.
Scope of the role includes:
- Support month-end processes including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, and provisions.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, resolving aged items.
- Reconcile billable third-party costs and ensure accurate, timely postings.
- Monitor expenditure and flag any questionable transactions.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making and reporting.
- Assist with internal/external audits and respond to tax-related queries.
- Collaborate with offshore finance teams across GL, AR, and AP.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and disclosures.
- Support financial controls, policy development, and process improvements.
- Assist with accounting standard changes and system/process impacts.
- Review cash flow forecasts and address related queries.
- Manage payroll accounting and system integration issues.
About you
You’re a detail-oriented finance professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a passion for delivering accurate, insightful financial information. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working across teams, including offshore finance functions, to ensure smooth and timely financial operations.
You’re either CA or CPA qualified—or actively working towards it—and bring a proactive mindset. You’re always looking for ways to improve processes, strengthen controls, and support decision-making with meaningful analysis. Comfortable managing competing priorities, you’re confident responding to audit and tax queries and navigating complex financial reporting requirements.
Other key attributes include:
- Experience in a corporate/multinational and large ERP environment is an advantage.
- Familiarity working with a shared services offshore team will be highly regarded but not essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues and deliver well-thought-out solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills, enabling you to engage effectively with senior business stakeholders.
- Knowledge of ERP financial modules, preferably TM1, Microsoft Dynamics AX, PowerBI and Blackline
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
In return we offer the opportunity to join a highly regarded global brand committed to investing in its people and platforms. This role offers an opportunity to make a tangible impact on our business while honing your skills and advancing your career.
