About the Role
Using a whole‑of‑life market approach, the Commercial department plays a key part in planning, proposing and delivering active commercial management to support sustainable growth aligned with our business strategy. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operational teams, you will provide commercial insights, ensure accurate financial treatment and contribute to strategic decision making across the BIS (Business and IT Services) portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Commercial and Planning and based from our Macquarie Park office, this is an opportunity to influence major commercial outcomes, support key deals and strengthen the financial performance of a dynamic business unit.
Scope of Role
- Deliver high quality modelling, analysis and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision making across BIS
- Partner with Sales teams to provide sound commercial advice, pricing support and deal evaluation to ensure commercially viable outcomes
- Provide commercial input into forecasts, campaigns, product launches and other operational initiatives to ensure alignment with business strategy
- Maintain a full profitability view across products and categories, identifying opportunities to improve margin and performance
- Assist in the development, preparation and implementation of annual and quarterly budgets and forecasts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with guidelines
- Complete full monthly analysis of BIS results, including SG&A variance reviews, journal preparation, reconciliations and month end close activities.
- Work closely with Finance & Accounting, business controllers, cost centre managers and divisional teams to ensure correct coding, accurate reporting and meaningful insights into performance.
About You
We are seeking a commercially minded and detail‑driven finance professional who brings strong analytical capability, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to high‑quality work. The ideal candidate will thrive in a time‑critical environment, demonstrate sound judgement, and confidently partner with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Finance and the wider business. With a solid grounding in accounting principles and advanced technical skills, they will contribute meaningful insights, maintain robust financial governance, and support the delivery of accurate budgets, forecasts and monthly results. This role suits someone who is proactive, collaborative, and eager to grow within a dynamic and commercially focused team. Key Skills and Experience include:
- Professionally qualified or progressing toward CA/CPA, supported by tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Business, with 2–4 years of relevant commercial or analytical experience.
- Strong management accounting capability, including cost accounting, audit trail maintenance, documentation skills and a solid understanding of financial systems, governance and reporting requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability, with experience working to strict deadlines in time‑critical environments; exposure to TM1, Oracle, Microsoft Access or Visual Basic is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with the confidence to work with internal and external customers, build rapport, and present insights clearly and professionally.
- A proactive, independent and team‑oriented working style, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accuracy, and contribute to continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting.
