About the Role

As a Data Warehouse Developer in our Technology and Operations team you will play a key role in providing a simplified, efficient experience to Canon Oceania and our customer base. The team provide a key differentiator to our competitors and are critical elements in forming and executing our Oceania strategy. Reporting to the Senior BI Developer Lead you will be hands on in the implementation of current and future Business Intelligence solutions and Data Warehouse strategies that meet the business requirements and strategic objectives. You’ll work with business units and technical teams (including third parties) on delivering Business Intelligence outcomes & projects and you’ll act as a subject matter expert as you provide technical expertise and tactical advice regarding data models, integration and data governance

Scope of the role includes:

  • Designing changes in accordance with the overarching IT and BI strategies
  • Assessing business requirements to identify the best data sources for reporting as well as identification and mitigation of risks and constraints
  • Assisting with ongoing maintenance of the data warehouse environment, including performance tuning, optimisation, and decommissioning
  • Working as needed with the security team to ensure that the BI environment is well designed, secure, and compliant
  • Assisting in the progression of Canon’s IT platforms moving toward a Cloud-first solution strategy
  • Supporting testing and analysis of BI & Reporting related software issues and work with the vendors to resolve any product issues
  • Maintaining current knowledge and advise on Data Warehouse technologies
  • Maintaining relationships with peers and stakeholders across IT and business teams

About you

As an experienced and enthusiastic IT professional with outstanding communication skills you bring experience in core Data Warehouse development and support to the role and you possess technical expertise in data warehouse design and data modelling. Your broad enterprise wide understanding of business processes, such as Sales & Margin, Pricing, Finance, P&L, HR, Inventory & Supply Chain is desirable as is your experience with Azure DevOps and Microsoft Azure Data Warehouse platform (Data Lake, Data Mart). More importantly you have a passion for technology and the desire and drive to continuously develop and grow your expertise.

Key Skills required include:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in core Data Warehouse development and support.
  • Established technical experience in data warehouse design and data modelling 
  • Strong experience on MS BI platform (SQL Server, MDS, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
  • Experience coding SQL, T-SQL and other languages such as C# or VB
  • Extensive experience in ETL processes
  • Power BI report development experience using DAX
