About The Role

This is a chance for an HR professional to step into a broad, high‑impact HR Business Partner role that offers variety and challenge. You’ll bring strong influencing and partnership skills,  a pragmatic approach and strong Australian employment relations expertise to support leaders across Canon’s  Corporate Services divisions in Australia, with exposure to New Zealand as part of an ANZ‑connected portfolio.

You’ll work alongside leaders to translate business goals into practical people solutions, balancing strategic advice with hands‑on delivery to manage risk, resolve complex employee matters and support sound, compliant decision‑making. Partnering closely with senior leaders, you’ll influence and coach with confidence, while working collaboratively with HR Advisory, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Organisational Development teams to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Include;

  • Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management
    • Build trusted, influential relationships with leaders across Australia and New Zealand.
    • Develop a deep understanding of business strategy, priorities and operational challenges.
    • Provide clear, pragmatic advice that balances commercial outcomes, compliance, risk and employee experience.
    • Confidently and constructively challenge, coach and influence leaders.
    • Act as a culture champion by role modelling Canon’s values and supporting leaders to embed strong, inclusive leadership and people practices.
  • Employee Relations & Case Management
    • Act as the ER expert, leading and managing employee relations matters end-to-end across the Australian portfolio, having a mindset toward early intervention and resolution.
    • Provide practical, solutions-focused advice on performance management, conduct, workplace investigations, organisational design and change.
    • Support leaders to manage people issues early and confidently navigate complex and sensitive people matters, building their leadership capability
    • Monitor legislative changes, emerging risks and industry trends within the Australian employment landscape.
  • HR Advisory & Governance
    • Deliver core HR activities including policy application, performance processes, remuneration cycles and talent reviews.
    • Drive compliance and effective use of HR systems and self-service tools.
    • Partner closely with HR Advisory, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Organisational Development to deliver aligned, end-to-end people solutions.
    • Contribute to HR initiatives, projects and continuous improvement across people processes and systems.

 

About You

You’re a confident HR Business Partner who enjoys working autonomously and building strong, influential relationships. You’re comfortable managing complexity, juggling priorities and providing thoughtful challenge in a way that builds trust and credibility.

You enjoy the mix of strategic thinking and practical delivery, rolling up your sleeves when needed while still keeping sight of the bigger picture. Working independently and managing a diverse portfolio comes naturally to you, and you partner easily with leaders across different levels and functions.

 

You bring:

  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner supporting a portfolio senior leaders and lifting manager capability
  • Strong, hands-on capability in Australian employment relations and legislation.
  • Sound judgement, critical thinking and a solution-oriented mindset.
  •  
  • A collaborative style and desire to coach and challenge stakeholders with respect, empathy and confidence
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to translate people advice into practical business outcomes.
  • The ability to work at pace, prioritise effectively and manage multiple competing demands.
  • Experience working across ANZ or multi-country portfolios and exposure to New Zealand employment law will be highly regarded.
