Infrastructure Support Specialist – Network & Security

About the Role
The Infrastructure Senior Support role is part of the infrastructure support team responsible for the management of all our infrastructure managed customers. These customers rely on Harbour IT to keep their Infrastructure running and meeting their needs which in turn allows the customer to focus on running their business. Infrastructure Management is one of Harbour IT’s key products and is critical to the success of the business.


The primary role of the Infrastructure Support Engineer is to deliver exceptional customer service while managing and maintaining our customer environments and providing support and mentoring to Infrastructure Support Technicians within the Infrastructure Support team. The support provided must always be achieved within contracted SLAs and meeting our customers' expectations.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing customer infrastructures – monitoring, reporting and maintaining network and security Infrastructure as required
  • Provide 3rd level technical network infrastructure support
  • Manage the network infrastructure for HIT customer environments.
  • Adhere to Incident, Security, Problem and Change Management processes as per HIT/customer standards (ITIL Framework)
  • Perform onsite maintenance and troubleshooting when required
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for HIT customer environments
  • Provide recommendations to HIT customers and sales staff for improvements in infrastructure configuration and deliverables
  • Provide assistance in any compliance or security audits that Harbour IT undertakes
  • Mentor and coach other Level 2, Level 3 and IT Operations Team members in developing appropriate Network skills.
  • Be an escalation point for Projects and other Harbour IT teams in relation to Network and security specific matters
  • Attend Customer Meetings (where applicable)
  • Provide reports to Customers where required. This may include ( but not limited to);
  • Daily Checks
  • Monthly reports
  • Post Incident reports
  • To provide after hours on-call assistance and/or escalation on a rotating basis

 

About You:
You must have the following qualifications and experience;

  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in an Infrastructure Support role, preferably including experience in a Managed Services Environment, specializing in Network and security fundamentals.
  • Must have current CCNP (or equivalent) certification
  • Appropriate Tertiary qualifications and/or IT Industry Certifications in a Network specific technology. Including Cisco, Juniper & Palo Alto

 

The following qualifications and experience are desirable;

  • Experience in a Managed Services or similar environment.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation certificate (Must be obtained before the end of probationary period).

In addition, you will have previous skills and experience working with:

  • Provide 3rd level Support services for Network technologies.
  • Provide technical advice as required for the improvement of network configurations.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in the use of following technologies;
  • Routing & Switching (Cisco, Juniper)
  • Firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto)
  • Network and Windows Security
  • Network Load Balancing (F5)
  • Microsoft Windows including Active Directory
  • Linux (RedHat and Ubuntu)
  • WAN / SDWAN
  • Wireless Solutions (Cisco WLAN / Meraki, Aruba Airwave / Central)
  • Azure Networks

 

Practical understanding of the following technologies.

  • SAN and Virtualized environments, particularly relating to the Network implications
  • Disaster Recovery techniques
  • Security processes and procedures
  • Firewalls (Sophos, Checkpoint, Fortinet)
  • Network Load Balancing (Netscalers)
  • LAN/WAN Acceleration
  • Security Appliances

 

You will also have strong customer service skills, high level of analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability and experience to prioritise tasks and workload.  Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a team environment with a shared workload.
