About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Public Relations and External Communications Lead to join our Brand & Growth team. This strategic role will lead Canon's earned influence strategy, building external authority, relevance and advocacy across our imaging business.
This role goes beyond traditional public relations. You will identify compelling stories, customer proof points and influential voices that strengthen Canon's reputation and commercial growth objectives. Working across Product, Sales, Marketing, customers, creators, partners and industry stakeholders, you'll create meaningful external influence that drives consideration, preference and customer lifetime value.
Role Scope
- Developing and executing Canon's earned influence and external communications strategy
- Building and managing a strong network of media, creators, advocates, customers and industry influencers
- Leading PR plans for major product launches and portfolio campaigns
- Identifying and developing customer stories, case studies, thought leadership and advocacy opportunities
- Extending the impact of marketing campaigns, sponsorships, partnerships and experiential activities through earned media opportunities
- Managing external PR agency and external partners to achieve measurable outcomes
- Measuring and optimising earned media performance against brand and commercial objectives
What You Bring
You are a strategic communications professional who understands how influential storytelling, advocacy and earned media contribute to brand growth. You enjoy uncovering opportunities, building trusted relationships and transforming complex products and customer outcomes into compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. You'll bring a commercially minded approach, strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work across multiple business functions while driving impactful external communications outcomes. Key skills and experience include:
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related discipline
- 7-10 years' experience across public relations, earned media, communications, or integrated marketing
- Demonstrated success developing earned media strategies that support both brand and commercial outcomes
- Proven experience identifying and developing compelling stories, advocacy programs and customer proof points
- Strong understanding of the evolving media, creator and influence landscape
- Experience building and managing relationships with media, creators, customers, industry experts and external partners
- Experience supporting product launches, reviews, media programs and earned communications campaigns
- Exceptional communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience within technology, consumer electronics, imaging or related industries will be highly regarded
