About the Role
As a Platform Engineer, you will be a critical member of a high performing Cloud Infrastructure team that manages and operates the Private and Public Cloud practice for a market leading Cloud and Managed Services provider. Reporting directly to the Manager, Cloud Services, this role is integral to the success of the well-established and growing platform (public and private cloud) practice, ensuring our portfolio of technology services are delivered and maintained to a high standard.
This is a rare opportunity for a public/private cloud expert to join a growing team, providing exposure to a portfolio of great technology and offering the chance to be part of the execution of upcoming platform project initiatives, enhancements and growth.
Main Duties
- Convey expertise and specialization in key public/private cloud
- Design, set up, and manage cloud environments in both private and public cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and on-premises cloud solutions (upgrades, enhancements and new projects)
- Ensure public/private cloud platforms adhere to security standards and compliance requirements. Implement security measures to protect data and applications in the public/private cloud environment
- Perform infrastructure related capacity planning and release management of public/private cloud services
- Provide proactive management, maintenance and operational support of key public/private cloud services such as operational activities (BAU), upgrades and lifecycle management
- Lead and manage public/private cloud related incidents through to resolution with the wider managed services teams
- Provide strategic direction and recommendations across the public/private cloud technology landscape to improve operations, performance and resilience
- Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline public/private cloud operations. Implement orchestration solutions for management, maintenance and operational support tasks.
- Ensure stability, resilience and uptime of public/private cloud services
- Act as a technical expert, providing guidance, ideas and support to fellow colleagues
- Learn, develop and maintain technical expertise and certifications across private and public cloud infrastructure technologies
About You
The role will require a motivated and passionate technology enthusiast to be part of the execution of an evolving platform (public and private cloud) strategy. It will require someone with proven technical experience managing, maintaining, enhancing and growing enterprise level private and public cloud environments, utilising best of breed and next generation technologies. Key skills & experience include:
- Strong passion and expertise in public/private cloud services
- Proficient with Azure services such as Azure Active Directory, Azure Network, Azure databases and Virtual Machines.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates).
- Understanding of networking, security, and database architecture in a cloud environment
- Ability to understand outcome focused deliverables and ensure success using technology
- Ability to contribute to preparation of project documentation, implementation plans, status updates and team meetings
