About the Role
As a key member of the Cloud Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the reliability, automation, security and day to day operations of our platforms across both private and public cloud environments. Reporting to the Manager - Cloud Services, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our well-established platform practice and ensuring our technology services are delivered to a consistently high standard. It provides a rare opportunity to work across an exciting portfolio of technologies while contributing to major platform initiatives, continuous improvements, and the ongoing growth of our cloud capabilities. This is a Macquarie Park based role with a hybrid work arrangement, offering the flexibility to work from home two days per week.
Scope of the Role
- Manage day to day operations across BAU and project workstreams, of our cloud and virtualised infrastructure, including patching, upgrades, backup validation and lifecycle maintenance
- Contribute to and lead internal platform projects (new capabilities, migrations, redesigns, and tooling improvements), partnering with architecture, security, and delivery teams to define scope, produce implementation plans, and deliver outcomes on time and to standard
- Develop and maintain Terraform and Ansible codebases, reusable modules and automated runbooks to deliver consistent, reliable, and repeatable platform changes or both operational enhancements and project deployments
- Lead P1/P2 incident response, drive timely service restoration, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement preventative measures to reduce recurring issues
- Embed security and compliance by design across BAU and project delivery, including least‑privilege access, system hardening, vulnerability remediation and maintain audit‑ready evidence for regulated environments
- Enhance monitoring, logging and alerting using metrics, logs, and traces; define SLOs and lead initiatives that improve uptime, performance and overall platform reliability
- Deliver infrastructure changes through CI/CD pipelines with strong governance, including rollback planning, accurate change records and thorough post‑implementation reviews
About you
This position is ideal for a motivated and passionate engineer with hands‑on experience operating and improving enterprise-wide cloud environments using modern technology. You will bring proven experience supporting public and private cloud platforms, along with a strong track record in maintaining and enhancing cloud environments in line with business and technical requirements. You possess the ability to work under tight timeframes and budgets, while leveraging strong internal and external relationships to shape effective solutions and outcomes. A solid understanding of end to end datacentre infrastructure services and technologies is essential, as is the ability to translate outcome focused objectives into successful delivery. Key Skills and Experience include:
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS, VMware vSphere, and Windows/Linux server administration in enterprise environments
- Proven ability to automate operational tasks using Python, PowerShell, or Bash, including self-healing and workflow automation
- Practical experience delivering infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, Git, and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Experience deploying and supporting Docker and Kubernetes workloads at scale
- Working knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery platforms (e.g., Rubrik, Commvault, Veeam), including regular restore testing
- Experience in IAM, secrets management, OS hardening and cloud security controls within regulated or security focused environments.
- Industry certifications as Azure/AWS Administrator, Solutions Architect, Microsoft/Linux administration, HashiCorp Terraform Professional/Red Hat Certified Specialist, VMware VCP or Red Hat (highly preferred)
