About the Role
As a Senior Engineer (Oracle DBA), you will be a critical member of a high performing Infrastructure Services team responsible for the development, enhancement, management and maintenance of customer platforms and systems. This role will specialise in Database & Cloud services covering technologies such as Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, RHEL as well as Cloud database infrastructure services. This role is integral to the success of the well-established and growing Cloud & Infrastructure Services practice, ensuring our portfolio of technology services are delivered and maintained to a high standard.
This is a hybrid role that may be based out of multiple locations within Australia. It reports into the Manager – Cloud Services.
Main Duties
- Enhancement, maintenance and management of the Enterprise level Database platforms & Cloud deployments
- Develop, support and enhance (optimise) current deployments of Database & Cloud services
- Follow standardised ITIL frameworks relating to Incident, Security, Problem and Change Management processes
- Communicate effectively with the internal and external stakeholders
- Create and maintain strong technical documentation for managed systems and services
- Provide proactive operational support to colleagues and customers as required
- Be an SME contributor for projects and initiatives across managed deployments
- Fulfilment of BAU requests, project delivery tasks and technology initiatives
- Attend customer meetings and workshops where applicable, providing technical recommendations and proactive advice
- Develop and enhance technology processes to improve efficiencies across the deployment base
About You
The position will require someone with proven technical experience managing, maintaining, enhancing and growing enterprise level database and cloud environments, utilising best practices to ensure maximum uptime, performance and optimisation. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Cloud and/or Database Engineer to join a technical team, providing exposure to a wide range of technologies disciplines. Key skills include -
- At least 5+ years in managing, configuring and maintaining Enterprise level database deployments (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL)
- Extensive knowledge with Oracle Database services, tools and products
- Extensive experience deploying, migrating, administrating and managing Oracle Database on RHEL, ASM, and Data guard
- Ability to perform advanced Oracle Database maintenance, troubleshooting and performance tuning
- Experience in database management across Microsoft SQL and MySQL services (desirable)
- Experience in database management across Microsoft SQL and MySQL services
- Expertise in Cloud Infrastructure, Data and Application services & technologies (AWS & Azure)
- Strong expertise in RHEL deployments including RHEL for Oracle and various other Linux distributions
- Knowledge of DevOps concepts, tools and languages (CloudFormation, PowerShell, Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitHub, Ansible, Azure ARM, etc)
- Experience in developing, managing, and supporting automation tools, processes, and runbooks across various technologies
