About the Role

As the Senior Engineer - Automation & Systems Management you will be a key member of our Cloud Applications, Systems and Automation team and you will focus on delivering exceptional customer service while managing and maintaining our customer environments and providing support.

The Cloud Applications, Systems and Automation team is responsible for the management and configuration of CBSA’s Observability, RMM, Automation and Reporting toolsets. Infrastructure Management is one of Harbour IT’s key products and is critical to the success of the business, of which Monitoring, Automation and reporting all play a key part.

Scope of the role includes:

  • Maintenance, support and management of the Infrastructure observability, monitoring and systems management software for managed services platforms and tools.
  • Ensure CBSA stakeholders and customers are making full use of the system management tools we implement.
  • Managing current suite of monitoring, automation and other supported tools as required.
  • Identify risks as part of on-boarding activities around monitoring and automation technical solutions and provide recommendations for improvements and enhancements to customers.
  • Adhere to Incident, Security, Problem and Change Management processes as per CBSA/customer standards (ITIL Framework)
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for CBSA customer environments for the Monitoring Software.
  • Be an escalation point for Projects and other CBSA teams in relation to various system management tools.
  • Fulfilment of Service Requests and project delivery tasks


About You

To be successful in this role will utilise your range of technical capabilities in line with technologies we manage for our customers as well as your excellent written and verbal communication skills. You know how troubleshoot issues including leading proper root cause analysis to drive down the re-occurrence of similar incidents and you enjoy working in a supportive team environment where a focus on our customers is key.

 Key skills and experience include:

  • At least 5+ years in managing, configuring and maintaining Wintel Infrastructure
  • At least 3+ years building, developing and maintaining observability and monitoring platforms either internally or for external customers.
  • Extensive knowledge with Microsoft Server technology products (Server OS, SQL, PowerShell and scripting)
  • Extensive knowledge with various RMM tools.
  • Extensive knowledge with monitoring products such as SCOM & Grafana.
  • Experience in developing, managing, and supporting automation tools, processes, and runbooks across various technologies
  • Experience in system integration (API and Data) – advantageous
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (documentation & presentation)
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a shared workload
  • Ability to make decisions or accept escalations as appropriate
  • Passionate about the latest technology trends to stay up to date with technologies
  • Ability to priorities tasks and workload
