About the Role

The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring that all journal entries, month-end allocations and general ledgers reconciliations are completed accurately and reported on a timely basis to enable other divisions with financial information to enable them to make effective business decisions. The role will be assigned the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure that journal entries are posted on time for monthly reporting;
  • Ensure all month end allocations journal recodes are processed before finalisation of CA & Consolidated accounts;
  • Finalise year end accounts, including reviewing of provision amounts and documentation supplied by divisions ensuring provisions are fully supported;
  • Co-ordinate and ensure that all general ledger reconciliations are completed accurately and on a timely basis and reviewed in Blackline;
  • Ensure that reconciling items are cleared on a timely basis. Delegate resolution to appropriate staff and escalate unresolved issues;
  • Coordinate and ensure all creditor accounts/statements are reconciled and all outstanding/overdue items are cleared on a timely basis;
  • Ensure all queries are handled promptly and professionally;
  • Ensure all journals are completed in accordance with monthly reporting timetables;
  • Assist in month end closing for CA and subsidiaries;
  • Ensure all reconciliations are completed in accordance with monthly timetables;
  • Ensure Management fees and fixed charges journal are posted and invoices are issued every 20th of the month;
  • Identify any issues on reconciliations as they arise. Escalate any material issues to management;
  • Maintain Blackline for CA which includes uploading of bank statements and processing bank reconciliation.

 

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s/College Degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Professional License (Certified Public Accountant) is an advantage but not required
  • At least 3 year (s) of working experience in the related field is required
  • Computer literacy (minimum Intermediate Excel, Intermediate Access)
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
  • Good level of initiative
  • Eye for detail
  • Efficient time management
