Supporting Canon’s market offering, the Logistics Department is responsible for Canon Australia/Canon New Zealand Logistics function encompassing National 3PL Operations, Import, Export, Inventory, and the management of the national distribution of Canon Australia/New Zealand’s merchandise and spare parts.

Essential duties

Responsibilities Include:


  • Reporting to the National Logistics Manager, this role is responsible for the key process of reconciling inventory balances between Canon’s Core ERP system and DHL’s Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • To apply analytical expertise and reporting services to key operations performance indicators in order to identify opportunities to improve service quality and drive down costs
  • This role is also responsible for ensuring that the WMS reconciliation will comply with both internal and external audit requirements to protect Canon Australia from potential audit non-compliances
  • In addition, the role is responsible for ensuring that Canon Australia’s inventory management and controls satisfy Canon Inc’s own requirements and policies
  • The position will be responsible for the stock reconciliation process and will need to work cross functionally with Canon IT and other stakeholders including DHL to resolve stock variances and perform approved stock adjustments (in the NDC, NDS & CPP sub-inventories).
  • The position will also investigate and regularly report back to Canon Senior Management (in particular, internal audit, product planning, logistics and finance) on all significant stock variances

  • Support the Logistics and Transport managers in relation to key Logistics activities

Financial / Commercial

  • Facilitate improved financial returns by contributing to cost management through business analytics
  • Ensure key data requirements are met within the Logistics function
  • Contribute to the formulisation of budgets and expense management
  • Manage stock levels to satisfy the competing requirement to reduce obsolete stock to targeted levels while meeting sales and customer expectations by processing all approved stock write downs/write offs
  • Assist and finalise stock counts for all warehouses and action all discrepancies found
  • Assisting in and producing documentation for all company audits



  • Support logistics team to provide relevant information for both internal customers and where required end user (i.e. cost to serve)
  • Provide support in the development and implementation of initiatives that will ensure DHL provides market-leading transit time
  • Facilitate improved customer service via costed process improvements

  • Assist the Logistics management in process optimisation and operational performance revision
  • Creation and assessment of key business driver reports and 3PL KPI reporting for stock management including working with stakeholders (Product Planning, CFA, Service, Sales CSMs/Account Managers) to keep stock level at a minimum.
  • Complete stock reconciliation process
  • Develop ad hoc reporting and stakeholder communication as required by Logistics managers
  • Efficient delegation and utilisation of internal resource
  • Coordinate with import and export freight forwarders and Customs, raising all appropriate documentation for all shipments
  • Achieve accurate stock reconciliations daily between ERP and all warehouses and monitor all system errors in WMS/ERP communication
  • Manage all stock transfers between warehouses in accordance with company policy and maintain accurate records
  • Provide support to Call Centre and DHL teams by answering queries and developing solutions to any issues arising to secure efficient customer service
  • Is able to break down a problem, situation or process into its component parts; separates the main issues from side-issues and understands the nature of parts and their relationship to one another

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s/College Degree in Inventory Control and Supply Chain or equivalent
  • Strong data management and maintenance skills
  • Ability to interpret/ analyze data and make appropriate decisions to execute daily task
  • Experience in Inventory management and product planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Access
  • Outstanding time management and prioritization skills
  • AX Inventory knowledge is desired
  • Some technical experience and ability to interpret machine configuration requirements is an advantage
  • Good rapport with internal and external customers.
