About The Role

The Welfare/Wellness, Health & Safety Lead will effectively manage compliance with Occupational Safety and Health standards through the implementation and evaluation of employee safety, health, and wellness programs.

The role will be assigned the following responsibilities:

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment by promoting the employee’s health condition through Pre-employment Medical Exam (PEME), Annual Physical Examination (APE), and Other Medical Exams deemed necessary.

  • Ensure compliance and proper implementation of the DOLE standards on Occupational Safety & Health, such as, but not limited to, Maintenance of Health & Safety Committee, OSH-related Trainings, Health & Safety Programs, and Advisories

  • Manage and resolve health and safety escalations and liaise with the respective departments for resolution.

  • Maintain employee records and promote the safety and health hazards in the work environment.        

  • Inspect the work area and equipment used by personnel for safety compliance, and generate detailed reports on safety conditions. 

  • Conduct mandatory safety & health training for preventative measures against occupational hazards, promote healthy living and working conditions.

  • Oversee the handling of third-party providers for Company HMO and Clinic Management.

  • Assist the Clinic Management team in their tasks and conduct monthly meetings for updates on health and safety issues. 

  • Assist in the procurement of needed medical equipment and supplies.

  • Organize the workplace Emergency Response & Control Group

  • Develop and enforce emergency response plans and act as the on-site coordinator during emergencies and drills.

 

Compliance (ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001, and DOLE)

  • Leading both internal and external audits to evaluate the organization's Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OSHMS) in compliance with ISO 45001:2018 standards.

  • Conducting quarterly site safety inspections on all locations to ensure compliance with internal policies and legal safety requirements.

  • Overseeing the Quality, Safety, and Environmental (QSE) audit cycle across the organization.

  • Maintaining current registers of all legal, regulatory, and compliance obligations for safety, quality, and environmental management.

 

Reporting

  • Lead investigations of workplace incidents, determine root causes, and prepare formal reports with corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.

  • Manage Canon Health, Environment, Safety System (CHESS) Reporting

  • Ensure the timely submission of Labor Statutory Reports, Workplace Accident and Illness Reporting, and all DOLE-required health reports.

 

Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Awareness

  • Responsible for ensuring the workplace is safe and any areas of concern are escalated to the OH&S representative within Canon immediately.

  • Champion Canon’s environmental strategy to employees and customers

  • Responsible for working within the OH&S and environmental guidelines and policies provided by Canon and the Client

  • Responsible for supporting the company in ensuring a healthy and safe environment to work in

  • Must be BOSH and SO3 Certified

  • Be aware of and understand your requirements and responsibilities about the company.


Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Nursing, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, or any related field. 

  • Must be a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer 2. 

  • Strong knowledge of RA 11058, Labor Code, and DOLE compliance requirements. 

  • Familiarity with ISO 45001:2018 or other occupational health and safety management systems is a plus. 

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. 

  • Experience with digital tools for incident reporting or compliance tracking 

  • With at least 3 years of experience in an OSH role, preferably in a BPO or corporate setting. 

  • Preferably with at least 1 year of experience in lead role, handling direct reports. 

  • Knowledge and exposure to a range of health and safety issues and matters handling multiple site location 


Skill Sets 

  • Detail-oriented, with experience in report writing, documentation, and emergency planning. 

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both in verbal and written setting. 

  • Facilitate and participate in meetings with customers and/or team members and management. 

  • Maintain the security of confidential information and documents. 

  • Demonstrate leadership through Canon knowledge and expertise. 

  • Demonstrate the ability to deliver and exceed expectations.
